Some final Vegas Thoughts ........from a wintery London
When I started this Trip Report on Trip Advisor I had no idea how it would turn out. All I knew was - I was enjoying revisiting Vegas in my head and, much to my surprise , I was not alone.
Encouraged by everyone who had taken the trouble to read and post a response, I kept on going ...
At times I wondered whether it was a thread about Vegas or a thread about 'me and E' ...
But Vegas is a unique city . Not only can it be whatever you want it to be - if you look into its glittering mirror, it can reflect back at you whoever you want to be.
So, for 2 old friends with differing attitudes to life who'd never been away together before - it was quite a mirror to look into.
'For you - all the world's a stage' said E, while reading through this TR
'Whereas for me - all the world's a bus station' ...
I know what he means ...I like to arrive somewhere, shed my old skin and live in the moment ... E likes to recreate his home away from home, and be who he knows he is - while processing his new environment carefully.
( For example : It quite unsettled him when housekeeping kept changing his bathroom around from the way he likes it, ......I don't think he knew the Spanish for 'please leave the toothpaste on that side of the basin'...)
Random thoughts/moments ....
E's vote for best turned out cocktail waitresses goes to the girls at Paris.
I don't need to tell you where he thought the most disappointing girls were!
We played the 'which casino would you knock down next' game ...and our vote went to ..............
Excalibur.
Apologies if you are fond of it . But there was something a little bit dark and strange about it . In the mood for a taste of Camelot, we found it abit too dungeon and dragons for our liking...(with the emphasis on dungeon...)
Things we wished we'd seen....
Me : Downtown ! The Fremont Experience , The Lake sound and light show at the Wynn....
E : Any magic show .......(we thought about trying to get into David Copperfield ...and then he was arrested.........)
I won't mention the Hooters girls again...
My favourite way to tease E .....
Hang over the Signature balcony, point at The Travelodge and exclaim ...'look ! there it is ! you could have stayed there ! '
Things we both wished we'd seen but were too late ....
Frank, Dean, Sammy and Elvis ....but you can feel their ghosts as you walk The Strip ...and if you listen hard, you can hear them singing in the Nevada wind...
So all in all, and all things considered ... Vegas got under our skin ....
We'll be back .
After all ....
It's Vegas, baby!
